Abstract:
(joint work with T. Tao) Motivated by the study of the minors process in which one considers a sequence of minors of a random matrix, we study the behavior of free entropy under free compression. Using the connection between free compression and free convolution powers, we are able to give a new proof of monotonicity of free entropy under central limit sums.
