CMM-Fields-Inria Workshop on Mathematics for Medicine
Description
The interdisciplinary field of mathematical medicine covers virtually all sectors of mathematics and of medicine, and is a field of research that has seen explosive growth in recent years. The problems and challenges faced by researchers arise from a broad spectrum of the biomedical sciences, and include, for example, the dynamic modelling of diseases and their therapeutics. Here, the underlying mathematics makes particular use of asymptotic analysis of differential equations and of their optimal control. In another direction, model-driven data and image analyses for surveillance/diagnosis have also given rise lately to unprecedented mathematical developments. It is now almost commonplace for mathematical models and methods to be used for prediction and control in various fields of medicine. This workshop will focus on two fairly established areas of mathematical medicine, namely the mathematical modelling of cancer growth and associated therapeutic strategies, as well as on the use of mathematical models to tackle problems arising in cardiovascular medicine.
